Buzz-worthy card:

It’s no secret that Buzz Breaks buys and breaks a lot of boxes. But one of my goals is to rip a little less and speak more about cardboard that I — and you — might like. How might I accomplish this? Let me show you a few pick-ups and tell you why they caught my eye. I would like to start with a throwback since I have a simple question to ask … when was the last time we saw something like this? You can see that this card has a stamp affixed to it, which was postmarked on the day of the player’s NFL debut, which was Miami. It’s a simple, non-traditional card — I wouldn’t call it a hit, but one like this could mix things up a bit. I know there’s a little more work involved here, but … offering something different in packs for pocket change wouldn’t hurt, right?

WWE takes big step to expand trading cards:

A couple of months ago, Panini took over the license for manufacturing and distributing 2022 WWE Trading Cards. During that time, the company hyped its upcoming WWE Prizm set to announce its entry into this segment of the hobby. The problem is, it’s not clear how long Panini will hold onto that license. Both WWE and Fanatics have announced that they have entered into an agreement to jointly produce e-commerce and licensed merchandise products for consumers. Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and trading cards are included in this agreement. As part of the agreement, Topps will produce wrestling cards using the latter’s brand. Fanatics acquired the company earlier this year from former Disney CEO Michael Eisner. Vince McMahon, the chairman and CEO of WWE, said the deal will help his company engage better with fans around the globe. The company’s CEO, Michael Rubin, explained that it makes sense for Fanatics’ global platform to offer a unique fan experience for a well-known sports and entertainment brand. We’ll offer WWE’s fans an incredible collection of capabilities to help them celebrate their favorite Superstars, marquee events, and the WWE brand overall,” Rubin continued.
